Main Township Cutting 135 Jobs

Maine Township School District 207 is cutting 135 jobs.

The school board approved the cuts last night.

The cuts include 75 teachers.

Members are trying to trim $15 million in spending.

They say teachers can save 45 positions if they agree to go without raises next year.

A spokesperson for the teachers' association accused the board of releasing that proposal to the press before talking about it with the union.
