FBI agents call him the Citibank bandit, for obvious reasons. They believe he knocked over five different Citibank branches when he first started robbing banks in February 2009. However, the F-B-I says it looks like he's branching out. His list now includes not only a National City bank but a Midwest bank Branch in Chicago' s West Loop. FBI agents say the Citibank bandit tried to rob this bank in late January. While he failed that time, investigators say he successfully knocked over a Citibank branch in the same area three weeks earlier. It's the same location he robbed in October of last year.
All together, FBI agents now say the Citibank bandit is responsible for robbing nine banks and attempting to rob two others. His only real pattern is that he targets downtown banks. The FBI's Ross Rice explains, "As you look at the chronology of the robberies, different locations, different days of the week, differnt times of day. he's not very predictable from that stand point. So thats why he's been somewhat elusive."
The Citibank bandit does not appear to be letting up, so the FBI is up-ing the ante in this case. It's now offering a ten thousand dollar reward for any information leading to his arrest.
Agents say the Citibank bandit is a white male, in his early 40's, about five feet ten inches tall, weighing around 170 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing a blue and green ball cap with a red symbol.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
