The FBI is turning up the heat in its search for a New Jersey sex offender arrested in west suburban Chicago nine years ago.
Agents say 42 year old Frantz Dieudonne's "disappeared into thin air" after being charged with having sex with a minor in 2002. Now, they are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Dieudonne was initially apprehended in June of 2002 after an Illinois State Police officer saw his car parked on the shoulder of I-88 with it's hazard lights on. When the trooper approached the car, he found Dieudonne and a 15 year old girl sitting inside. After questioning them, he learned the girl was a foster child from Utah that Dieudonne had met on the internet. Investigators say the two were traveling from Utah to New Jersey, where Dieudonne lived at the time. They also say the pair had been having sexual relations along the way and had a hotel reservation in Crestwood that night.
Federal prosecutors in both Illinois and Utah charged Dieudonne with traveling across state lines several times to have sex with a minor. A US District judge in Chicago released Dieudonne on bond. Court records show Dieudonne disappeared a year later, in the fall of 2003, when he failed to show up for a court appearance here.
Here is a detailed description of what agents say Dieudonne looks like. He is a Haitian born, black male about five feet seven inches tall, weighing around 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. FBI agents also say Dieudonne is a sexual predator. If you see him, call police
