On Tuesday, Groupon is offering a deal of the day to help needy Chicago Public School children.
For $12, you can donate to "Kitz for Kidz," which will provide a child with a box of notebooks, looseleaf paper, pencils, pens and other supplies meant to last all year.
Eighty-five percent of CPS students come from low income families.
"Many of them don't have the means to start the school year out with all the supplies they need," said CPS Spokesperson Becky Carroll. "Sometimes there might be a stigma that might get in the way of a child feeling good about starting their first day of school."
The Groupon school supplies donation program will run through Thursday.
Groupon said it's part of their belief that when people work together, they can accomplish great things.
"People can't donate $10,000 themselves," said G-Team Coordinator Kyle Klatt. "But if we all come together and donate in small amounts, we can make a big difference."
