A report by the Chicago Tribune shows some teachers working in suburban school districts are making more than $100,000 a year.
The study found almost half the teachers in Highland Park and Deerfield make more than $100,000. In Park Ridge and Hinsdale, the number is 43 percent.
Statewide, only 4 percent of teachers make more than $100,000 a year.
Most of the big salaries are paid to people teaching high school algebra, biology, art and music classes.
School districts say they need to pay those salaries to attract good teachers.
