Buses to Replace Northstar Trains Tuesday

Metro Transit says Northstar rail service will not resume for morning commuters on Tuesday as previously announced, but commuter busses will replace the trains since repairs to the track are taking longer than expected following Saturday’s freight train derailment.

The bus service will carry customers from Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka and Coon Rapids stations at the regularly scheduled times.

Officials said the Fridley station remains closed for all morning and afternoon trips.

Depending on how long it takes to repair the tracks, trains may be running to take riders home from downtown on Tuesday afternoon, but there will not be any special service for the 7:10 p.m. Twins game.
