There's debate about how a school in Georgia -- and the local police department -- handled a 6- year- old who apparently threw a violent temper tantrum.

There's debate about how a school in Georgia -- and the local police department -- handled a 6- year- old who apparently threw a violent temper tantrum.
The school called police and kindergartner Salecia Johnson ended up taken away in handcuffs like any other crime suspect.
The school says she was pushing other students and running away from staff before the trouble escalated into slamming chairs around an office, and throwing over a shelf which then hit the school's principal in the leg.
A police report says the girl also jumped on top of a paper shredder, tried to break a glass picture frame above it, and was biting a door knob.
An officer says he tried to calm the girl down but she resisted and started fighting with him. So he handcuffed her, put her in the back of his squad car and brought her to the police station.
The police department says its officer acted within the rules. Its policy for arresting suspects makes no distinction about age. Or, as the police chief put it, there is no age discrimination.
Johnson's parents say in this case there should have been. They admit Salecia suffers from mood swings, but say the harshness of an arrest could cause long-term psychological damage.
Johnson was originally charged with assault, and damage to property, but those charges are now being dropped because she's so young. There was also talk about her being expelled from school, but we've learned she's expected to be back in class next week
