Anchor

Deborah Bowden

Deborah Bowden joined the FOX 13 News team in 1998. She anchors the FOX 13 News at 6 and 10 on the weekends. Her reports can also be seen weekday evenings.

Deborah has covered many major news stories, including the 2004 hurricanes and the disappearance of Jessica Lunsford. In 2001, she was given the Award of Excellence by the Society for Professional Journalists for her reporting.

Deborah began her broadcast career as an anchor and reporter in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She has also worked in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Atlanta and North Georgia. Over the years, she has covered the news from nearly every aspect, working as a producer, editor, production assistant and even as a weather anchor.

She received her degree in mass communications from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

Deborah knew she wanted to be a journalist from the time she was just 6 years old. Growing up in Vero Beach on Florida's east coast, Deborah's family encouraged her natural curiosity and love of current events. Her parents taught her the value of hard work early on in life.

Her family grows Indian River Grapefruit, including her father and brother. They built their citrus business one acre at a time. Her mother, who was active in politics, twice served as Vero's Mayor. Deborah's extended family lives here in the Tampa Bay area, including her grandparents, who live in Lakeland.

When she's not working, you can find Deborah spending time with her husband and their jack russell terrier, Bailey.
