(NewsCore) - After soaring to fame during this summer’s World Cup by correctly predicting the outcome of eight out of eight matches, the psychic cephalopod Paul the octopus has moved on to even bigger things: an advertising career, an agent and even a planned swim alongside David Beckham, the weekly German magazine Der Spiegel reported Friday.

But although there’s no holding him back, Paul has proved to be a civic-minded superstar: proceeds from his advertising venture for the German supermarket chain Rewe will go to a turtle sanctuary in Greece, according to his agent, Chris Davis.

The ads for Rewe, shot last week, show Paul in his trademark pose, choosing a mussel from one of two plastic boxes. Naturally, he chose the one labeled Rewe, a decision Davis said he came to “instantly.”

“Paul has turned into a million-plus brand,” Spiegel quoted Davis as saying, adding that there were more than 160 offers to sell products, including 37 in one morning alone.

Also on the mighty mollusk’s agenda, according to England-based Davis, are a book deal, a plush toy contract and a swim alongside soccer star Beckham to promote England’s bid for the 2018 World Cup, Spiegel said.

For now, Paul is resting up at his home at the Sea Life aquarium in Oberhausen, in western Germany.

But he might want to be careful. Speigel noted the Rewe website calls octopus “tasty” and offers it “deep frozen and pre-fried.”
