(The Sun) - A teenage Jehovah's Witness was killed in the U.K. after refusing a blood transfusion following a car crash, The Sun reported Tuesday.
Joshua McAuley, 15, was knocking on doors to recruit members when he was hit by the car. He was thought to still be conscious, but told doctors, "No blood."
Clive Parker, an elder at the place where McAuley's family worships, said: "I believe he made a stand on the blood issue. He made the choice personally."
McAuley died six hours after the crash in Smethwich, West Midlands, central England.
His faith claims the Bible bans blood transfusions, as life is a gift from God.
It is not known if a blood transfusion could have saved his life.
A 28-year-old male was arrested over the car crash.
