MINNEAPOLIS - Construction on the Central Corridor Light Rail line will proceed this week. The line will connect the downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Utility relocation crews will begin preliminary work along the line. The actual relocation of water lines and storm sewers is due to start later this summer.
When complete, it will be Minnesota's second light-rail line. The first rail takes passengers on a corridor through Minneapolis, the airport and the Mall of America.
Crews hope to start construction on the new 11-mile line next year and have it up and running by 2014.
It is State, local and federal dollars will fund the project.
