Mankato Businesses Prep for Favre Era

Mankato is buzzing about the possibility of Brett Favre coming down for training camp and it could mean extra money for the city.

One hotel is raising its prices, believing all lodging facilities will be sold out. A number of businesses are already looking at how they will market to get people to their establishments.

Favre could truly be an economic stimulus for Mankato. If Favre does come to Mankato for Vikings training camp, many believe it'll be a grand slam for the city.

A block away from Vikings training camp is the AmericInn, the closest hotel to the facility. From national media to out of state fans making reservations, the hotel is already seeing a 30 to 35 percent increase in bookings over previous years.

A few miles away at the Holiday Inn Mankato, calls are also on the rise in anticipation of Favre coming to town

While weekends are usually sold out, mid-week is only half full. That would certainly change as the Holiday Inn expects a 50 to 70percent increase in bookings with Favre on the field.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau also believes the affect will be for years to come as hopefully people will get a taste of Mankato and return.

All of this, of course, depends on Brett Favre coming to the Vikings.
