Under Oath, Childress Silent on Favre's Future

Attorney asks Vikings coach who will be QB in 2010

MINNEAPOLIS - Even under oath, Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress remained silent on the team's quarterback situation heading into the 2010-11 season.

Childress testified Friday in defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams' trial against the NFL, telling a judge he was not the source of the leak of information to the media the players tested positive for steroid masking agents.

Childress spent less than five minutes on the stand. The last question for him by attorney "Can you tell me who will be your starting quarterback next year?" attorney Peter Ginsberg asked.

The courtroom burst into laughter--Childress did not respond.

This offseason, Vikings fans are anxiously awaiting the decision of Brett Favre on whether or not to return for a second season in Minnesota. The Vikings were eliminated in the NFC Championship game, losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.

Appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show" on March 4, Favre told Jay Leno he still hasn't decided whether he'll play again next season -- and doesn't expect to make an announcement anytime soon.

"Well Jay, it's only been a month, and I know now that I'm just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason," Favre said.
