Ohio State cheerleader Josh Springer plans to be at every Buckeye football game next season, as always, but this season as a wide receiver for the team.
Springer was sitting in math class when he got a text message from a football trainer with a good piece of news. After two months of training, he had made the Ohio State football team as a wide receiver.
"I told the teacher I had to get up and go out into the hall. I couldn't stop smiling. I called my parents right away," said Springer.
When Springer was a senior in high school, Ohio coach Jim Tressel told him at the advice of the cheerleading coach to attend Ohio State.
The junior claims that he's picked up a few tips from watching on the sidelines and is looking forward to spring football.
"It really hasn't sunk it yet," Springer said. "Once I get started in with the program, the practices, it will really sink in."
