Poll Shows Pets are Like Family to Owners

A new poll from the Associated Press and Petside.com shows 50 percent of all American pet owners consider their pets as much a part of the family as any other person at home.

And if you ask Tim Acheson or Roger Day, the reason the love is so strong is simple.

The poll also shows about a third of owners let their pet sleep in the bed, most give them human food, and almost half give their pets human names.

At Pampered Pooch Playground in St. Louis Park, they're doing everything to fuel the love affair.

Keith Miller and his wife provide everything from doggy daycare and overnight hotel rooms, to even spa treatment and doggy yoga.

The most popular feature may be the webcam, which owners check constantly. It's so popular that Miller just created an iPhone application for the webcam, and it's already a huge hit.
