3 Killed in Central Minn. Head-On Crash

RENVILLE, Minn. - Police say three people are dead after a pick-up truck crashed into oncoming traffic in central Minnesota.

Authorities say the truck was driving behind a snow plow went into oncoming traffic on highway 71 in Renville around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The man may have been trying to pass the plow.

The three victims have been identified as Fred Kingstrom, 89, his 83-year-old wife Ebba and 44-year-old daughter Andrea. Ebba Kingstrom died at the scene, and the other victims died at HCMC. The family was on their way to celebrate another daughter's 50th birthday party.

Kingstrom's son Mark survived the crash.

The 28-year-old driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating. Charges are possible.

The community of Sacred Heart, Minn. say the Kingstroms will be missed.
