MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis is doing what they can to get dangerous dogs off the streets with a dangerous dog list. Of the 16 declared dangerous, four are pit bulls – all for biting people or other animals.
So far this year in Minneapolis alone, 121 dog bites have been reported. Thirty-eight of the attacks are considered serious.
In 2009, over 1,700 people across the metro were treated in emergency rooms for bites but they don't break the list down by breed.
A Merritt Clifton study looked at 25 years of dog attacks and found pit bulls, rotweillers and presa canaries together were responsible for 74 percent of all dog attacks.
Of the fatal attacks, pit bulls were the culprits 59 percent of the time. That Clifton study said pit bulls and two other breeds were responsible for 74 percent of dog attacks.
