MINNEAPOLIS - Everyday the Workforce Center in south Minneapolis and others like it around the Twin Cities are packed with people like looking for work.
Instead of spending her day behind a desk, Amy Hoyez-Oul is one of the thousands of Minnesotans looking for work.
"I was laid off from my previous employer. I was doing medical records," said Hoyez-Oul. Hoyez-Oul goes to the Workforce Center as a resource to finding a new job.
Center Manager Kathy Carney says finding support from friends and family of a non-profit is the first and most important step in getting back into the workforce.
"It's really important to connect with other people so they don't feel like they're the only one in the world that has lost their job," said Carney.
Folks at the Center take classes on interviewing, resume writing and networking.
Talking to people, using Facebook is important because sometimes getting a job is all about who you know.
