Published : Tuesday, 10 Nov 2009, 11:58 AM CST

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Paul Police Traffic and Accident Unit is investigating a Monday evening crash that killed a pedestrian.

Alexandria Jane Mardell, 20, of Eagan, was struck by a vehicle just after 7 p.m. near West Seventh Street and James Avenue. She was crossing Seventh westward apparently unaware of oncoming traffic when she was struck by a 33-year-old Eagan woman's vehicle.

Mardell was taken to Regions Hospital where she died overnight due to her injuries.

The accident was not crosswalk related. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident. The driver was not cited at the scene.
