SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota will release its employment numbers for April. But people looking for jobs, especially college graduates, can already tell you what it's like out there.

There are 2.4 million new graduates in the class of 2010. They will discover a world where there are about five job seekers for each opening, according to numbers from the Bureau of Labor.

Career Coach Joanne Meehl has a book specifically for those new to the market. She says like college, job seekers should study for their interviews and know that employers know how to search you on Google. She also suggests removing picture inappropriate pictures off of Facebook.

"80 percent of employees do look you up, and recruiters do look you up online,” said Meehl.

CareerBuilder finds that 44 percent of employers plan to hire new graduate, which is about the same as last year - down from 58 percent two years ago.

There is some good news. Sara Newberg is Director of the Career Center at the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus. She says at a career fair last year, no one had jobs. She says these years for many employers are hiring full-time employees.
