Turkey Stopping Traffic in Brooklyn Park

Police struggle to catch car-loving turkey

Published : Tuesday, 17 Nov 2009, 4:49 PM CST

Police have been trying to catch a traffic-stopping turkey in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

Neighbors like the turkey, but police have been getting calls when it stops traffic at the intersection of Brookdale Drive and Newton Ave. N.

Police have been unsuccessful in their attempt to catch the turkey.

Last November, a Plymouth family learned to live with a wild turkey that showed up at their home the previous June and never left. Tom the Turkey was known for escorting cars in and out of the driveway and stopping traffic in the road.

There must be something in the pre-Thanksgiving air, as the Brooklyn Park turkey isn't alone in wanting to disrupt traffic. In Leesburg, Virginia a wild turkey has been chasing cars along Route 7 and even jumped on top of a parked truck.
