80 teenagers singing, dancing and playing together as one is not easy at all, but Totino Grace High School's show choir sure makes it look that way.

The hard works started last spring with tryouts, then picked back up in late August with choreography on weekends, six hours of rehearsals during the school week and regular competitions. The choir reached its peak in March with a national championship in Chicago.

"You can tell when the entire group is in it 100 percent," senior Ashley Kidd said.

In Chicago, Totino Grace took all four categories for the firs time in school history.

The practice and performance and competition schedules wouldn't sound so grueling if most of these kids didn’t also have jobs, friends and participate in other school activities and sports.

The high-energy, 18 minute, four song, two costume change show is a big change from the choir's humble beginnings 20 years ago, with two dozens students and one look.

While updates may help, those in the choir say those things aren't responsible for this year's success -- it's just something that happens when it happens.

The public has one final chance to see the Totino Grace show choir in concert on Friday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in Fridley.
