PELICAN RAPIDS - A pilot survived when his float plane flipped over as he tried to land on the west side of Lake Lizzie in Otter Tail County Friday. Mike McFeely of radio station KFGO in Moorhead and Fargo, N.D., was fishing on the lake at the time of the crash about 10:30 a.m. He said the pilot, from the Fargo area, had a cut on his forehead but was calling friends afterwards to tell what had happened. He said the pilot told him he apparently hadn't retracted the landing gear before coming down. McFeely said he could see the wheels of the plane had not been retracted into the plane.
