ST. PAUL, Minn. - A 6th grade teacher at Northfield Middle School has been charge with assault, accused of biting off part of a man's ear at a St. Paul diner Sunday.
Susan Mukuhi Mwarabu, 30, has been charged with third-degree assault in the attack. According to the criminal complaint, a 33-year-old man was eating with friends at the Uptowner around 4 a.m. Sunday when he made a comment about one of Mwarabu's friends.
Mwarabu confronted the group of men, licked the man's ear, then bit part of it off. The man was treated by a plastic surgeon at a hospital and was told some of his ear would grow back.
Northfield Superintendent L. Chris Richardson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press school officials will have to learn more about the case before taking action. Richardson said a reporter's call was the first the district had heard of Mwarabu's arrest and charge, saying they received a call she was home sick.
