Husband Suspect in St. Paul Woman's Death

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Police are investigating the death of a woman inside a St. Paul home Monday night as a murder.

Police and paramedics were called to the 1000 block of Barclay Street around 9:30 p.m. and found a man outside the home who said he was locked out. Looking through the windows, officers found a woman lying on the floor who was pronounced dead at the scene.

When officers talked to the man outside the home, he said the woman found dead inside was his wife. The man was emotional and taken to Regions Hospital for evaluation.

The woman was identified as Jean Andrine Wassenaar, 67. Her husband is considered a suspect in her death. The motive, manner and cause of death remain under investigation and the Ramsey County medical examiner’s office will be performing an autopsy later Tuesday.
