It only took 10 minutes for some grizzly bears at the Minnesota Zoo to destroy a 500-pound pumpkin dropped inside their exhibit Thursday.
Bears Haines and Kenai led the pre-Halloween destruction, while Sadie showed up at the end
“Pumpkins are just one example of ‘enrichment’ used at the Minnesota Zoo to stimulate animals’ senses while encouraging a wide range of natural behaviors,” said the Minnesota Zoo’s Northern Trail Supervisor Diana Weinhardt.
The large pumpkin, grown at the Minnesota Zoo’s family farm exhibit by volunteer Bob Erickson for the past five months, was dropped inside the Russia's Grizzly Coast exhibit by a bobcat.
