Don Shelby to Retire From WCCO

MINNEAPOLIS - Don Shelby is retiring from WCCO. An announcement of the news anchor's retirement plans is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the WCCO-TV plaza in downtown Minneapolis.

The announcement doesn't come as a surprise, as Shelby said last year he would step away from both the WCCO news desk and WCCO Radio microphone. His contract with Ch. 4 expires on Dec. 31, 2010.

Don Shelby joined WCCO-TV in 1978 and has co-anchored the 10 p.m. newscast since 1985. He was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame in October 2007.
