The annual Cities Sampler, released by Cities 97, sold out in two hours Thursday. The 21st volume of the Sampler, the longest running non-profit radio CD in the country, went on sale at select Target stores at 8 a.m.
People traditionally line up outside select Target stores to buy it, because it’s a limited release—just 30,000 copies go on sale.
The sale of this year’s CD will put the all time total raised for charity from Sampler proceeds over $8 million dollars.
Last year’s 20th Anniversary Cities 97 Sampler alone raised one million dollars for Minnesota charities.
Cities 97 Sampler Volume 21 features 20 never-before-released performances recorded live in concert or in Cities 97’s Studio C. It was sold for $24.97 (limit two per person), with 100 percent of the proceeds going to local charities.
The following artists and bands appear on Volume 21:
Jason Mraz – 1,000 Things
Ingrid Michaelson – Maybe
Rob Thomas – Her Diamonds
