WATERVILLE, Minn. - A body was found in an alley in Waterville, Minnesota on Monday. Christopher Allen Poehler, 24, was found dead outside an apartment on 114 Third Street South.
“He never bothered anybody. Being his neighbor our kitchen connects to his kitchen and you never heard anything no commotion,” said Poehler’s neighbor Tasha Chesney.
An employee at Napa Auto Parts says the store’s manager discovered Poehler’s body when he arrived to open the store around 6:30am. At first the manager thought someone was sleeping in the alley because he didn’t notice any injuries. When he realized Poehler was not responding he called 911.
“Anytime you do an investigation you can’t go backwards. You are better off to cover your bases up front and that’s why we had the investigators come in,” said Waterville Police Chief Brad Schultz.
Police say Poehler does have some injuries but could not reveal details. Several neighbors believe Poehler may have been returning home from dinner at the Corner Bar. Police say it’s too early to confirm details about Poehler’s whereabouts before his death. Investigators are trying to piece together a time line regarding where Poehler may have gone between Sunday evening and when his body was discovered Monday morning.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the death. Anyone with information on Poehler's whereabouts or actions Sunday evening is asked to call the LeSueur County sheriff's office at (507) 357-4440 or Waterville Police at (507) 362-4622.
