A 15-year old boy was been shot and killed in St. Paul on Thursday after a group of teenagers were possibly playing with a gun. Two people have been arrested.
Police say a group of teenagers gathered at a house at 38 East Maryland Avenue on Thursday morning. They were apparently still partying from Wednesday night.
Darion Joseph Smith, 15 of St. Paul, was identified Friday as the victim of the shooting. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.
About 10 a.m. a single shot was fired at the teenager's upper body, killing him at the scene. Investigators are looking at the possibility of this being an accidental shooting.
"It's gonna be a bad thanksgiving for a family now. It's not worth it," said Justin Dittel, a neighbor who saw the squad cars arrive at the house.
Police found the gun a few blocks away at a home on Sylvan Street.
After rounding up and questioning a handful of witnesses, police arrested a juvenile and a 19-year old suspect on probable cause of homicide.
