Eagan Airman Killed in Afghanistan Plane Crash

WASHINGTON - An Air Force captain from Eagan, Minn. was killed in Afghanistan Friday, said the U.S. Department of Defense.

Capt. Thomas J. Gramith, 27, died in an F-15E crash near Ghazni Province, Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom. He was assigned to the 336th Fighter Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C.

Also killed in the crash was Capt. Mark R. McDowell, 26, of Colorado Springs, Colo.
 

The F-15E Strike Eagle crashed around 7:15 p.m. Friday evening in Kabul.

The squadron's F-15E Strike Eagle jets and about 300 personnel deployed from the Goldsboro, N.C. base in April for a four-month tour of duty.
