MINNEAPOLIS - Getting around downtown is already tough enough, but with Lions Club holding their annual international convention in Minneapolis, getting around won’t be easy.

The Lions International is the largest convention since the Republican National Convention last fall and the biggest in town this year.

A five-hour cultural show will happen in downtown on Tuesday. It will be to celebrate the Lions Club performance and volunteerism throughout the world.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell is the guest speaker on Wednesday and come Tuesday delegates will put on a spectacle that will look like the parade of nation and the Olympics.

The city will close off Washington Avenue from Hennepin Avenue to 3rd Street. The road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Because of the parade on Tuesday, Metro Transit will have to adjust a number of bus routes. Bus numbers 10, 11, 17, 18 and 25 will move off Nicollet Mall and onto Hennepin Avenue for Tuesday only.

The parade is open to the public.
