MANKATO, Minn. - There are new details coming out in Sunday morning's fatal shooting at a quiet and popular park in Mankato. On his personal website, he called his ex-wife abusive.

Joel Marvin Munt, 33, of Burnsville has been arrested and booked into the Blue Earth County Jail for second-degree murder.

Mankato police were called to Rasmussen Woods around 11:50 a.m. Sunday on a report of shots and a man with a gun in the park. Responding officers weren't able to find the suspect, but found an SUV crashed into a car off the pavement and into some small trees on the side of the road.

The SUV was still running and in gear, with its tires spinning and smoking as they disintegrated against the pavement. Officers found a woman dead inside the pinned car.

His loved ones told FOX 9, a bitter custody battle, with his ex-wife Svetlana Boudniaia, had left him devastated.

Munt met Boudniaia, who was from Russia, over the internet and then married more than 10 years ago. Joel and Svetlana battled in court for the three kids.

The courts had actually found that neither Munt nor Boudniaia were well suited for parenting. The kids though remained with their mother, with Munt getting supervised weekend visits.

Munt, who was a computer programmer, had ranted about his situation on a personal website . On it, he called Boudniaia abusive and blamed the courts for his situation.
