EAGAN, Minn. - After seven tries, The Minnesota Valley Humane Society in Burnsville has found a new home in Eagan. They outgrew their old facility and have been searching more than a year for a new one, and hit plenty of roadblocks along the way.

The enthusiasm inside the Humane Society isn’t because their Burnsville building magically expanded. They still have too many animals.

Last summer, the Humane Society hoped to move to a larger home, still within Burnsville.
The organization fought with the city council to let them. But, since they didn’t fit the zoning, they lost the fight.

They’ve found a building in Eagan, zoned industrial, which is what they need. It is twice the size, empty and for sale.

To buy the building and extensively renovate it to house animals, it is going to cost about a $1.5 million. They hope actually having an address will make people more likely to give donations, hoping to have a better place to handle all those animals up for adoption.
