SAVAGE, Minn. - A benefit fund has been established for Savage Police Officer Frank Mackall, who remains in critical condition with head injuries suffered in a single-car crash while on patrol.
Mackall, 39, was injured when his squad car slid off the icy road and struck a tree on 137th Street near Glendale Road around 1 a.m. Monday.
The Savage Police Department and South Metro Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14, of which Officer Mackall is an active member, have set up a fund at Klein Bank for donations. Contributions may be made in care of the Frank Mackall Benefit Fund at any Klein Bank location. Donations also are being accepted by mail at the following address:

Mackall has been with the Savage Police Department since July of 2008. Prior to that he was an officer with the Woodbury Police Department. He is married with three children and lives in Cottage Grove.
