EDINA - While many communities are seeing housing prices go down, Edina is actually seeing an increase in home values.
In Edina in 2007, average home values were just over $490,000. In 2008, average values have jumped to nearly $529,000. That's an increase of about 8 percent.
Throughout the rest of the Twin Cities, prices have declined about 11 percent.
The close proximity to downtown Minneapolis and shopping areas help reel in buyers, and the nationally-recognized school system and neighborhood parks are other big attractions.
Other upscale communities including Sunfish Lake, Prior Lake, and a few neighborhoods in St. Paul are also seeing home values increase.
Although the market is strong in Edina, home sales have dropped.
