From MyFox National Reports

Two thieves drove a pickup truck into a store in Salem, Ore., in an attempt to smash and steal an ATM, but things didn't go according to plan.

It looks like the would-be crooks were expecting it to be an easy caper, but it also looks like the suspects did not plan on the machine being bolted to the ground.

No matter how they much tried to free the machine, it doesn't budge and then they just give up leaving with nothing.

The crime happened just after 4 a.m. on Saturday morning at the 12th Street Market.

"This should be on the bloopers, I would think," said Sean Jackson of Servpro Disaster Clean-Up. "Kind of crazy and then not even to steal a coke or a beer. They're a bunch of morons. That's about it."

Another citizen said about the crooks, "I don't think they had enough brains to even think it through."

"Pretty desperate for money," commented another person. "I mean, it's a crucial situation with the recession and all, but that's overdoing it."

So are they America's dumbest criminals?

"At least. Yeah, to say the least. Yeah absolutely," said Jackson.

Police are looking for the truck seen in the surveillance video, hoping it will lead them to their suspects.
