MINNEAPOLIS - Chest pain, arm pain, fatigue are all signs of a possible heart attack, but one surprise symptom is throat burn. This uncommonly known fact saved a man’s life.
While most people worry about the common signs of heart attacks, it's those lingering uncommon pains that you should also pay attention to.
Sherburne County Commissioner John Riebel met on Thursday on how to improve grams Regional Park. But he believes he's still here today to help improve and save lives.
For the past 10 years, Riebel suffered from a burning sensation in his throat. He even went to a doctor about it. Recently, he attended an educational conference on heart attacks. That very same night he woke up at 3 a.m.
Remembering the conference, he drove to the hospital and saw a doctor. Rielbel was flown to Abbott Northwestern Hospital, where he was operated on.
Doctor John Lesser is a cardiologist at the Minneapolis Heart Institute.
“It’s a common symptom for a common problem which is heart burn which is acid reflex, but it can also be the heart although much less common,” said Riebel.
Other less common signs include pain in the right arm, hand numbness and the strangest, Dr. Lesser's heard if, an earlobe ache.
“If you are walking stairs or running or doing activity and you feel that symptom wherever it is then it goes away when you stop comes back again when you do something that's worrisome that the problem is your heart."
Riebel highly suggests attending hospital seminars, saying before the conference he would have blown off his pain and probably seen a doctor the next day.
