With the Vikings on a winning streak and Brett Favre in town, Vikings tickets are selling fast. Fans are finding they don't always get what they pay for. Hundreds of fans were turned away from the Metrodome for the Vikings-Packers game, after buying counterfeit tickets from scam artists.
Before Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Vikings staff is warning fans about the unscrupulous scalpers. The Vikings discovered at least two hundred fraudulent transactions after the Packers game, involving hundreds of counterfeit tickets.
Vikings VP of Sales and Marketing Steve LaCroix told FOX 9, "We're trying to warn fans so they're not burned and disappointed."
The Vikings say never buy "e-tickets" on the street, because they're too easy to copy and counterfeit. With other fakes, it's easier to fool. FOX 9 found some counterfeit tickets which looked very similar to legitimate tickets, but they did not include the serial number in red digits on the backside. Other scalpers are selling tickets for seats that don't exist in the Metrodome, or printing them out on the old Ticketmaster stock cards.
The Vikings staff expects scalpers to use similar tricks throughout the season, but they hope fewer victims fall prey before the Ravens game on Sunday.
