Allergies and spring go hand in hand, but now there’s another solution to allergy shots. It’s called allergy drops, or sublingual immunotherapy.

Three times a day, a patient puts a drop under his tongue, and counts to 30 before swallowing what’s left. It’s painless, and can be done at home.

Dr. Kuderko of the Oakdale Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic in Maple Grove thinks they are the only clinic in the Twin Cities to begin using allergy drops to fight allergy symptoms. The new treatment is not actually new – it’s been used in Europe for years. "It was just controversial whether or not it worked; there wasn't a lot of hard science behind it."
