Networking, Best Way to Find Job

Published : Monday, 16 Feb 2009, 5:02 PM CST

With so many unemployed right now, finding a job isn't what it used to be.

There's new technology that's giving the edge to some out of work.

Facebook is a good example of a tool for modern job hunting. Professionals are using that networking to find jobs.

Today's Career Clinic called getting Minnesota back to work was put on by McKinley Group and Career Builder. The biggest message is networking, both online and in person.

It's something everyone should be doing all the time, so when you find yourself unemployed; you can put the word out quickly.

"There are a lot of organizations to get involved with, whether it's your church, whether it's networking groups all over the Twin Cities," says Tony Sorensen from McKinley Group.

"It's still a people business so the more people you get to know, the more people you can call, the warmer that lead is, the better." Linked In is another site that has proved to be helpful.

It's specifically for professional networking and is growing fast. A huge mistake, they say, is waiting until you're unemployed to develop a network. For searching, experts say the best site is called Indeed.com.

It emails you each day of relevant openings from hundreds of job sites.
