For most of us, pumpkin pie is as much a part of thanksgiving as turkey and dressing.
But this year, many thanksgiving dinners may be without a key ingredient due to a nationwide shortage of canned pumpkin.
Libby's, which is the most popular brand by far, says heavy rains in the Midwest caused its pumpkin harvest to be much smaller than expected.
As a result, the company says it may not have enough supply to meet demand this holiday season.
At Cooper's Country Market in Chaska, Libby's is still on the shelf for now, but at least one other brand has been sold out for weeks.
Managers believe they'll have enough to make it through Thanksgiving. If not, they say customers can still buy pre-made pumpkin pies from the freezer or the bakery.
