More Holiday Sales, Less Total Inventory

Don't expect the same sales as last year

Now that Halloween is over, you might be making your holiday shopping list, but things aren't looking so good for retailers and that may cost you. A survey out today from Creighton University says Midwestern retailers expect a 1.6 percent drop this holiday season.

Stores are going into the year already adjusted to a slower economy. Experts say there are less stuff to sell and more of it at lower prices.

Retail expert, Professor David Brennan at the University of St. Thomas says the problem last year is the economy crashed after stores bought all their Christmas merchandise.

That’s why you saw amazing sales already in November.

So with predictions this year of about a one percent drop, there will be less inventory and not as many unique items.

Experts say that customers should not expect the same kind of sales as last year.
