BURNSVILLE, Minn. - A Minnesota DNR officer shot two broad-winged hawks Wednesday after the bird dive-bombed and attacked several people in Burnsville.
Conservation officer Tony Salzer said the hawks became aggressive and attacked dozens of people for weeks, hitting four and causing two scalp wounds that bled.
Salzer shot the hawks Wednesday, but not before they attacked him too.
The birds apparently attacked because people had come too close to the nest home to their two fledgling.
Salzer and others tried to trap and relocate the hawks, but failed. He shot one hawk, hoping the second would calm down, but It remained aggressive and Salzer shot it a half-hour later.
