HAM LAKE, Minn. - Workers at the Majestic Oaks Golf Club in Ham Lake found the body of a man encased in a frozen pond Friday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., golf course workers saw what looked like the remains of a human face sticking out of the ice on a small pond.
Anoka County deputies were called to the golf course, where they secured the area. Investigators said scene work has been complicated, since the remains are frozen in about two feet of water. It is assumed foul play was involved in the death.
Investigators say the ice may have preserved evidence of who the man was and how he died. They are checking to see if his general description matches that of anyone reported missing in the area.
At first, investigators had to build a stable platform they could work from. They cut a refrigerator-sized chunk of ice, and will work overnight to remove the body.
