Cottage Grove is cleaning up from storm damage where a possible tornado ripped through on Wednesday, uprooting trees and damaging homes.
Cottage Grove police reported seeing a funnel cloud touch down in the area of Highway 61 and Lockridge Ave. around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday. A police squad car caught video of the funnel cloud while driving in the area.
Most of the damage in Cottage Grove was on the 11700 block of Lockridge Ave., where several large trees were uprooted and homes sustained roof and window damage. There were no reports of injuries.
Witnesses reported a tornado was moving through the neighborhood in a northeast direction, following Highway 61 before dissipating near Kimbro Ave.
Cottage Grove is about 15 miles southeast of St. Paul.
