Minnesota Designers Create Alice in Wonderland Costumes for Tim Burton

It’s hard to escape the fact that Tim Burton’s new movie, “Alice in Wonderland” in 3-D opens today. The special effects are rivaled only by the fantastic costumes designed by Colleen Atwood; this is her ninth collaboration with Burton. M.A. Rosko tells us, local clothing designers were asked to use

the movie as a jumping-off point to design some Alice-inspired garments. About 14 designers, both students and established designers, heeded the call and let their imaginations run wild for this design challenge. Featured seamstresses on M.A.’s segments today: Samantha Rei, Sarah Lopez, Silvia and Dziyana, and Brittany Hunt.
