It’s one of the wackiest programs Leonardo’s Basement offers: a Rube Goldberg build event for adults (Friday night) and for high school students (Saturday afternoon). A Rube Goldberg machine is an overly complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple task—think of the game “Mouse Trap.” M.A. Rosko says in this case the task is to put some cookies in an oven. Building the mechanism to get there, according to Willis Bowman, is where art meets science. Check out all the creative programs offered at Leonardo’s Basement—from welding to blacksmithing, and all kinds of tinkering.
