New moms can have a tough job of focusing on themselves after a baby is born. One new service is catching on to this issue for new moms and created a delivery meal plan. Fresh Mommy is a food delivery service that just went nationwide, catering to new moms who are nursing.
It's designed to bring proper nutrition while losing weight safely and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
It prepares meals without any bad foods for mom and baby that may cause gas, heartburn and more, like broccoli, garlic and onions.
Yet, it adds foods that are high in antioxidants like blueberries and raspberries.
A local dietitian says, you can get the nutrients you need at your local grocery store too, like Kowalski's.
Those lean meats, fruits and vegetables are good to focus on.
But moms still have to stay away from one particular kind of food when nursing.
Lynda Schaumburg, a registered dietitian at the st. Francis Regional Medical Center says "foods you should stay away from when nursing are those high mercury fish, like swordish and shark."
The Fresh Mommy service will cost a mom 40 dollars a day for four meals. And dads can get a separate higher calorie meal plan too. But Schaumburg says recruit family and friends to help you out after you give birth, and cook the healthy meals at home, then freeze them, so you can maintain health, lose weight and save money.
