A recent poll says more people in Britain are shopping online while intoxicated and don't mind admitting it, but is the same trend emerging across the pond?
In the back corner of Covered, they serve drinks to provide a little liquid courage to customers who spend hours trying on $200 denim. Though they are intended to help the women feel more at ease, Bridget O'Brien told FOX 9 News that she's taken some sips while shopping at home.
"I bought this CD," she recalled, admitting she was definitely under the influence at the time.
Though shoppers at the mall may stroll for hours in utter sobriety, agonizing over purchases -- a glass of relaxation and a screen can present a different shopping equation that can lead to some comical confessions from friends on Facebook.
Now, it seems that more and more impulse-buys are showing up in the evening, and that's leading to a lot of speculation that home shopping sites are marketing to take advantage of tipsy clickers with quick-decision deals that expire late at night.
Yet, the vice president of marketing at Hamline University, who has a history in retail marketing, says the trend may be a product of several factors, including workplace Internet restrictions.
So-called "e-tailers" also have noticed that e-mails that arrive while users are away often tend to get deleted en masse; however, if they arrive in the evening while shoppers are online, they're more likely to be read.
